About this workshop

If a workplace environment is psychologically safe

  • One feels comfortable sharing ideas
  • Asking questions and questioning the way things are done
  • Having challenging conversations with others about their behavior or performance
  • Feel like one's well-being and who they are is cared for, valued and respected
  • Making mistakes is tolerated and learned from and won’t feel like one needs to cover them up
If one works in a psychologically unsafe environment, one might find that:
  • Everyone’s very polite to each other but there are indirect conversations happening
  • One is concerned about making mistakes and find people cover them up
  • One feels uncomfortable challenging the way things are done and do so cautiously if at all
  • You might find certain people are stereotyped and there are light (or heavy) jokes made about others/yourself
  • You might find certain ideas or skills are dismissed even when it would be valuable to use them

This workshop explores what makes a workplace psychologically safe and supports participants in playing an active role in enhancing the psychological safety of their workplace. The workshop contains a large practical component and to get the best, participants should be supported and actively encouraged to participate in all activities.
