Timeless leadership lessons from Bhagavad Gita an ancient Indian scripture

3000+

Various sources trace the origins of the Bhagavad Gita (aka Gita) to the 1st millennium BCE, making it over 3,000 years old. It forms part of the larger epic, the Mahabharata, which tells the story of a catastrophic war between two rival cousins - Duryodhana of the Kauravas and Yudishthira of the Pandavas

The Gita is an 18-chapter dialogue between the warrior prince Arjun (of the Pandavas) and his coach-mentor-charioteer, Krishna, symbolizing the inner conflict between the lower self and the higher Self. This struggle mirrors the challenges we all face—choosing between what is expected of us and what is truly needed.

Our Gita Project

To explore these timeless lessons, Prasad Kaipa* and the Institute of Indic Wisdom** launched Our Gita Project, a 20-week discussion series that explored each chapter from multiple perspectives.

I was a part of a team which focused on exploring the leadership aspects of the Gita. This 60 minute Master Class presents my personal insights, drawn from a close re-reading of the epic through this lens and introduces a program that I developed based on these learnings.
